Sindhi Kadhi is very yummy and nutritious. This Kadhi is made with split pigeon peas (toor dal)) and mix of vegetables. Traditionally it is served with rice or as a soup. This recipe is absolutely one of my favourite to prepare as it caters for the whole family. We do optimised cooking with only one menu for the whole family…babies/toddler and parents.
The same recipe can be used for babies by blending the final mixture.
It can be served to toddlers without blending as all the vegetables are very soft.
For parents, you can eat same as for the toddlers or I usually add some tamarind paste to add some tangy taste which is the traditional kadhi.

- 1 cup Toor dal Also known as split pigeon peas
- 1 handful Green Beans
- 1 Carrot
- 1 Potato
- 1/2 tsp tumeric powder
- 1 piece Ginger
Ingredients

- Prepare all your ingredients: toor dal, green beans, carrot and potato.
- Cut the vegetables in small pieces.
- Pressure cook the dal with sufficient water, together with the tumeric.
- Once the dal is cooked, let cool and strain through a colander to get a smooth texture.
- The mixture should look like this. Put back the dal in the pressure cooker without the lid.
- Add the vegetables and the piece of ginger.
- Cook on low flame for about 15-20 minutes.
- Add some water if needed depending on the consistency that you prefer.
- Blend it all for babies or you can serve with the soft vegetables to toddlers.
