Puree Spinach [Zepinar]

By V

Little Mr or Miss Popeye!! We will eat spinach today…

My daughter is not a big fan of spinach puree but I thought I’ll still share you the recipe as every child has different taste.

As I already made the spinach, I used them in small quantities by adding an apple to it to bring some softness or another vegetable like carrot. It cuts down that iron-y taste. Also a great way to have spinach is adding them to black lentils.

I showed the steam method for the spinach but an interesting method is to do a sauté in a little olive oil 🙂 Works better than steam according to me.

Instructions
  1. Soak and wash the spinach leaves. I usually soak vegetables to remove pesticides.
  2. Steam the leaves for 10 minutes as they will cook very quickly
  3. Steamed spinach leaves
  4. Blend it with some olive oil. You may add some water if needed for texture and softer puree.
  5. Your spinach puree is ready!!
Recipe Notes
  1. Adding some butter instead of the olive oil also work.
  2. Instead of steaming, try to sauté the spinach leaves in a little olive oil.
  3. You can mix other ingredients to the spinach such as : Carrot / Lentils/ Apple / Potatoes / Sweet Potatoes.
