Puree Calebasse with herbs [Kalbas] – 3 ways

One of the first vegetable that you can try is Bottle gourd / Calbasse/ Kalbas

Bottle gourd provides various health benefits such as supply of essential vitamins and minerals, cure for acidity, safe and natural laxative, protection of liver, anthelmintic or cure for intestinal worms and cure for urinary disorders. [Source: Parenting Healthy Babies]

This time, I have experienced calbasse in different ways…with herbs!! Yes I wanted to get my daughter familiar with different tastes and not those of salt or sugar. So I’m really motivated to make her try herbs and also some spices soon. The different herbs that you can try – read my post HERBS & SPICES

For this calbasse recipe, I tried 3 different ways

  • Plain Steamed Calebasse
  • Steamed Calebasse with thyme
  • Steamed Calebasse with coriander

  1. Cut the calebasse for faster cooking. Steam the vegetable for 15 minutes
  2. Cut the onion and some thyme leaves that you washes properly
  3. In a pan, add some olive oil then you add the onions and thyme leaves
  4. Add the steamed calebasse to the pan. You can now switch off the fire so it does not get too cooked.
  5. Mix well
  6. Blend it all once 🙂 and it's ready!!
  7. The Puree Calebasse READY! The Christmas balls were on the table so I could not resist to be a bit cheesy and add them to the photos! Haha
