Here is a whole family proof recipe; you can give it to your babies once they can chew and swallow pieces. It is perfect for kids who are learning to eat by themselves. It can also be a perfect snack for parents or if you receiving guests.
Simple ingredients, simple cooking and great taste for all.
I love baked butternut, I think it has this perfect roasted taste – whenever I put butternut in the oven, my hubby asks if I am cooking meat!
Here you go for the step by step picture recipe:
Servings |
|
- 1 butternut
- 1 handful Broccoli
- 2 tbsp bread crumbs
- 1 cheese portion here I used Kiri
- 1/2 tsp basilic leaves dried or fresh
- Oil for frying
- salt and pepper depending on age
Ingredients
|
|
- Cut the butternut lengthwise.
- Bake the butternut for 45mins to 1 hour depending on the size of the butternut. Just be careful you do not burn them.
- I had frozen broccoli, so I unfreeze and cooked them slightly in some butter. Mix the baked butternut, broccoli, breadcrumbs, cheese, herbs and seasonings until they all stick together.
- Make some balls and flatten them to get small nuggets.
- In a pan, put some oil and let the nuggets cooked on both sides.
- Cook until golden.
- Butternut Broccoli nuggets are READY!
Always consult your pediatrician before giving new ingredient to your baby.
Make sure your baby can swallow pieces before giving those nuggets
If you have leftover butternut, babies love it when blended with some cheese. Butternut squash saved me so many times as I just asked my babysitter to put the butternut in the oven 1 hour before I come back from work and tadaaaaa…just blend and it’s done.
