Baby Food – Zucchini, Patisson, Asparagus and thyme

By V

Seeing bright colour of vegetables motivates me to cook for my baby. They can get such an amazing variety of vegetables compared to what you get in jar food. I am not completely against jar baby food but to my opinion; you are buying fresh vegetables for your baby and not giving prepared food that are on shelves since months and you also get to give vegetabels commonly available in your country.

Today I will prepare patisson (also know as pattypan in english), zucchini, asparagus with thyme. Introducting asparagus for the first time.

See below for the preparation notes:

  1. Prepare your vegetables and herbs.
  2. Wash the patisson well, peel and cut them in small pieces.
  3. Wash the zucchini and asparagus. Add them to the patisson and steam for 15-20 mins as the asparagus can be harder to cook. Faster cooking for asparagus in notes below*.
  4. Vegetables are steamed and ready for blending.
  5. Blend the ingredients with the thyme leaves to the consistency that you prefer.
  6. Sorry no time to get photo of the baby food as baby was too hungry. It was so good that she ate the rest that I had kept for the next day also.
Recipe Notes

ALWAYS consult your pediatrician before introducing food.

*Cook the asparagus faster but putting them over the stove in boiling water for 5 mins. Then you can add it to the steamed patisson and zucchini.

Add some butter, it will taste even better for your baby and good for the health. Read adding good fats
