Baby Food – Butternut, Red Lentils & Green beans

By V

Easy recipe that I tried with those simple 3 ingredients but gave me 2 alternative meals.

My baby seems to love everything that has butternut because of the sweet texture. Interesting fact in this recipe is when you are introducing pulses to your baby. Not for only one meal, you can also cook the vegetables as a seperate meal and add the red lentils when you need.

I prepared here 2 different meals that are:

OPTION 1: Butternut and Green Beans

OPTION 2: Butternut, Green Beans and Red Lentils

See below for the details of my preparation:

  2. Cut the butternut in small pieces, devein the green vegetables and cut them in slices.
  3. Steam both the butternut and green beans for 15 minutes.
  4. Soak the red lentils for one hour to remove all the residue then wash the grains. Cook with 1 cup of water on slow flame in a pan for 15 mins while the vegetables are steaming.
  5. Vegetables are steamed and ready.
  6. Blend the vegetables together for OPTION 1 or add the blended vegetables together with the cooked lentils for OPTION 2.
Recipe Notes

ALWAYS consult your pediatrician before introducing food.

Although I did not show the numerous possibilities with those 3 ingredients, keep in mind that you can do 7 alternatives when you have 3 ingredients. For example here;

  1. Butternut
  2. Green Beans
  3. Red Lentils
  4. Butternut & Green Beans
  5. Butternut & Red Lentils
  6. Green Beans & Red Lentils
  7. Butternut, Green Beans & Red Lentils.
