Puree Pumpkin [Ziromon]
Who likes Giraumon? I’m not a big fan but I have to say that my baby is absolutely in love with its taste. I guess as first food, babies will love the sweet taste that they are experiencing.
It’s absolutely easy to make and very economic. For example, you can buy a piece of pumpkin for Rs 10 and you can get 3 meals for a starting-to-eat baby.
Benefits of pumpkin:

So pumpkin is an easy vegetable that can be cooked in the oven, boiling or steaming.
For my baby, I put everything in the steamer so I do not have to wait for it to finish or keep monitoring the cooking. This is how I made mine using the steaming method:
- Cut
- Steam
- Blend! as easy as this

As mentioned, you can cook in different ways:
BOILING: Cut the pumpkin in small pieces and add some water enough to cover half the pumpkin. Cook on low flame till the vegetable start melting. You can use a fork to crush and add some more water to make it more liquid so that baby can easily swallow.
OVEN: Do a pocket with aluminium foil, add 2 tsp of water and close it. Cook for 180degrees for 30 mins. Make sure you cut the pumpkin for faster cooking.
After feeding my baby with pumpkin…. Results are amazing! Not a simple bit left, even in the small bowl I had made extra 🙂
Some spices can also be added to your pumpkin puree such as cinnamon, tumeric, cumin powder. Later I will do a post with some spices that you can use for babies. Hehe…who said baby food should be boring.
You can also add other foods with pumpkin such as:
- Carrot
- Butternut
- Sweet potatoes
- Rice
- Lentils
